I loved this novel for it’s accurate depiction of the colonial city of Guanajuato. Having lived in the city off and on for 10 years, Romain’s descriptions capture the look and feel of the colorful homes, the cobblestone callejones, and the energy of the city and its inhabitants. I also loved the characters and was swept along as Callie confronted painful memories from her past.
