GIVEAWAY – 5 copies of Swallowtail Summer by Erica James, set in the Norfolk Broads

30th June 2019

In our giveaway this week we have 5 copies of Swallowtail Summer by Erica James, set in the Norfolk Broads

Swallowtail Summer by Erica James

Swallowtail Summer by Erica James:

Linston End on the Norfolk Broads has been the holiday home to three families for many years. The memories of their time there are ingrained in their hearts: picnics on the river, gin and tonics in the pavilion at dusk, hours spent seeking out the local swallowtail butterflies. Everyone together.

But widower Alastair has been faced with a few of life’s surprises recently. Now, he is about to shock his circle of friends with the decisions he has made – and the changes it will mean for them all. For some, it feels like the end. For others, it might just be the beginning . . .

It’s a great read and we have 5 copies up for grabs! All you need to do is to leave a comment below telling us what your holiday plans are this year (and if you are staying at home, what are you looking forward to doing) by midnight UK time on Saturday, 13th July. We want to get in the holiday mood!!!

This giveaway is UK ONLY

Read our review of Swallowtail Summer and on THIS LINK Erica talks about inspiration and setting!

I am staying at home in Edinburgh so that I can review in the festivals, then recovering with a trip to Islay for the wonderful jazz festival in September. My best memory of a childhood holiday was a visit to Brownsea Island – I had never seen so many shells. Islands are always special.

I had a wonderful trip of a lifetime, earlier this year, to visit my son who lives in China. But as a Norfolk girl, my annual trip to Norwich is always very special. Seeing dear school friends and revisiting places filled with so many happy childhood memories. I would love to read Erica’s new book.

I’ve had a gorgeous few days in Wales in a delightful cottage on a girls holiday with my mom and daughter. We were new to Burry port but loved the large beaches for dog walking and it helped to confirm my new found love for Wales. I choose the peace of no motorways, to drive over the Brecon Beacons and we saw our first wild ponies. That was so special, for mom’s first holiday, since my dad died last year. The three generations holiday was not always easy but I shall always remember it, and the laughter over lots of wine.

Looking forward to some lazy days in La Cala de Mijas, Spain catching up on reading. Spend some time in whitewashed villages with terracotta rooftops and watch the glorious sunsets over the Mediterranean.
It would be great to take Erica James’s Swallowtail Summer with me for a relaxing read.

This next weekend July 13th will be my big birthday so we will be breaking out the barbecue, putting up the bunting and blasting out the music, a great start to the Summer holiday. The grandchildren don’t know but I have organised for all of them plus parents and me to go off for a stay at Disneyland Paris during the school holiday which should be heaps of fun. This year is fun year before I return to my serious solo travelling next year.

Unfortunately due to health problems I won’t be going on holiday this year but will stay in sunny Whitley Bay. I have family in Norfolk and every summer we used to go down to stay and always took a boat out on the Norfolk Broads. These are some of my best memories from childhood and myself and my cousins still talk about it when we get together

No getting-away-on-holiday plans this year, with a frail elderly husband to care for, & two adorable grandchildren who I mind part-time while Mum & Dad work. A G&T and a good book in our pretty garden will happily be my lot.

I was planning a river cruise but as I have had my garden landscaped, at considerable expense, it has been put on hold until next year, However all the family including my 7 year old great grandson are renting an air B and B in Builth Wells in August. It is 6 years since we all holidayed together so it will be interesting to see how we all get on! My grandaughter’s idea of getting up early is 11 am and I understand the little boy gets up at 7 am!

As I cannot remember the last time I had a holiday anywhere apart from at home, I will share my mum’s amusing story about a holiday on the Norfolk Broads during the heatwave Summer of 1976 when she was 6 months pregnant with my sister and the water level was too low to move anywhere!
