A book of two halves

If this book had been written in two parts, in my opinion it would have been a better read. The first half, having been entirely given over to the woman’s art of dressmaking would have made an interesting story – and gives an early example of of a self-made person. Thrown in are a few exciting moments caused by the unions of the Spanish – Anglo – German relations. The second part – as espionage isn’t her metier, fell rather flat, but I fast read to the end. Overall enjoyable.
