Best Bookish Social Media accounts to make you smile
It’s really lovely to see something a little bit different. So we thought we would share three interesting accounts – with books at their heart – with you. Share with us in the comments below your entertaining bookish accounts and let’s build a list for everyone to enjoy!
Bookcase Credibility on Twitter

During the early days of Lockdown, Spring 2020, there was much debate about the Zeitgeist of Skype and Zoom and people started peering relentlessly at the bookshelves behind the featured interviewees. Michael Gove (still Britain’s Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster as I write in May 2020) was criticised by Alastair Campbell (PM Tony Blair’s multitalented spokesperson, as well as journalist, broadcaster, political aide and broadcaster) for ‘Having Hitler, Rommel ad Napoleon next to Maggie [Thatcher]’. He felt it was ‘not a good look’!
The New York Times soon got on the case and pondered ‘What do famous people’s shelves reveal?’ Stacy Abrams (U.S. politician) on MSNBC’s Morning Joe show had The Night Tiger by Yangzse Choo, set in 1930s Malaysia on her shelf. Andy Cohen (U.S. Talkshow host) displays A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, set in New York City – as well as a right array of nick nacks, and Prince Charles owns up to owning Shattered by Dick Francis.
I am sure many people appearing on our TVs have carefully curated what they share with the watching public! Do you agree?
Bookface Magazine on Instagram
It is a skill to spot a book, with a cover that is suitable for this purpose. And let me tell you, we have tried to emulate their artistic endeavours here at TripFiction but it is MUCH harder than it looks! Just get the angle slightly wrong and an otherwise pretty face turns into one of the leering images in The House of Mirrors at a fair ground. Why don’t you have a go?
Hot Dudes Reading on Instagram and Facebook
This is a hugely popular account (I can’t think why). They have 1.2 million followers on Insta. It is a debate whether these are natural shots that people just happen to snap or whether they are posed for the camera. If they are random subjects, does the Social Media account need their permission, how does that work (I am clearly overthinking this!)? We will leave you to make up your mind….
