A Fatal Reunion

Author(s): Malcolm Forsythe

Location(s): Wivenhoe, Essex

Genre(s): Police Procedural

Era(s): 1990s

John Dennison died quietly; silence disturbed only by the sound of his legs threshing the bedsheets as the man astride his chest choked him.

DCI Millson suspects that Dennison’s killer is Albert Smedley, the jealous husband heard quarrelling with his wife in the flat below Dennison’s. His suspicions are strengthened when he discovers that Irene Smedley has lied to him about how she spent her time the night before the murder.

But then other information comes to light. DCI Millson and DS Scobie begin to unravel a story that leads them back to the Second World War, when four young girls swore an oath of secrecy about what happened one Christmas night. Can the police break the conspiracy of silence before another murder is committed?

A Fatal Reunion is a fine addition to Malcolm Forsythe’s popular Millson and Scobie detective series, and a good choice for anyone who enjoys British police procedurals.
