It’s 2003, and Cath Pearson is on the run through south east Asia. But from what?

It’s 2013, and rock star Jack Wolf has just tried to commit suicide.

He begins a search for the one girl he loved – Cath Pearson – and who he hasn’t seen for 10 years.

As he tracks her down through the backpackers she met on her travels, Jack learns about the lives of each of them: Sandra, the Swedish girl in a relationship with another girl, who isn’t sure about her sexuality: Matt and his disastrous attempt to propose to his bitchy girlfriend in the forests of Thailand: Lars, who just wants a quiet life: Jane, the teacher who rescues Cath: Michelle, the New Zealander who loves butterfiles: and Mark and Manda, the most boring couple in the world.

Jack’s search through their stories brings him closer to Cath, but in the end he must confront a final question: did she survive that fateful year?

I read this whilst in Bali, where some of the book is set, and it just brought everything to life. Good backpacking novel – Teeswatrat –
