Era(s): Late Twentieth Century

After having been sexually assaulted during an audition, Ingrid, an aspiring young German singer and songwriter, wants to report the crime. However, her mother is vehemently opposed to getting the police involved. Instead, she talks her daughter into spending time in the United States, hoping that the distance and new surroundings will help Ingrid heal and put the traumatic event behind her.
Shortly after arriving in Detroit, Michigan, Ingrid meets and marries Joe Bassen, an ambitious real estate developer. Together they build a successful business, and a chance meeting with a guitarist draws Ingrid back into the world of music. When the opportunity finally presents itself, Ingrid determines to wield her own justice to get even with her perpetrator – and she does so in a cunning and highly unconventional manner.
