Simon Pringle’s elderly colleague, Professor Benson, is worried that the police suspect he killed his wife, Dawn. Simon is reluctant to be drawn into the family’s trauma, but stepdaughter, Rachel, insists that he finds out how her mother died. Soon the strange toxicology is indicating that Dawn’s death may not have been caused by her ill-health.
Meanwhile, Yardley Forensics needs more work to keep the business viable, so Dr Mills Sanderson is initially relieved to receive a call from Rogerson Forensics. But when Simon tests the drug sample that the company has submitted, he wonders if she’s made a serious mistake.
