Singer in the Night

Singer in the Night

Author(s): Olja Savicevic

Location(s): Croatia

Genre(s): Fiction

Era(s): Contemporary

Singer in the Night is a story about life, love and the fragility of memory, both personal and historical.

Motivated by the disappearance of her artistic ex-husband – Nightingale – famous screenwriter Clementine embarks on an unforgettable trip down memory lane, taking her golden convertible car all the way from Slovenia, through Croatia, to Bosnia, in search of her lost love. Along the way she recounts her memories which are interspersed with letters, written by Nightingale before he disappeared, on the nature of love and passion.

Singer in the Night is a playful, sensual novel which comments on perception and how life is really lived – never objectively, never encompassing the whole truth, and yet no less real to us.
