It is 1839, a preacher is looking after a small group of Aborigines, who have come from Tasmania, formerly Van Diemen’s Land.the Aborigines have all been guided into taking up”Western” notions, from dress to food. He is appalled by the increasing number of deaths of the people in his care. Their leader, King Romeo dies and his head is sent to England for further study.
Lady Jane Franklin, meanwhile, the wife of Sir John Franklin, the former Governor of Van Dieman’s Land, is in London, hoping to raise funds to establish the fate of her missing husband, who went missing in the Arctic.
