Your chance to win a fabulous South of France themed prize!
15th April 2016
As the Northern Hemisphere Spring is now in full swing – and as our thoughts turn away from Winter to Summer holidays – where better to head than the glorious South of France?
The prize in our competition this month is mouth-watering… first a copy of Not Quite Nice by Sunday Times best-selling author, Celia Imrie – a brilliant read that describes life for Theresa, a lady forced into early retirement, in the beautiful (but ficticious) Bellevue-sur-Mer just outside Nice. Then a signed copy of Villa America by Liza Klaussmann – featuring the iconic international crowd of the 1930s (the Fitzgeralds, the Hemingways, the Murphys, Picasso, Cole Porter) who head for Summer in the South of France. And finally a luxurious – and very beautiful – beach towel inscribed with a beach sandal motif.
To win this great prize, all you have to do is write in the Comments box below the one place (or event) you would like to visit in the South of France this Summer. It’s that easy!
The competition closes at midnight UK time on Friday 29th April, and the winner will be the first name out of the hat on Saturday 30th April.
The very best of luck!

The first name out of the hat when we drew the prize earlier this morning was that of Rachel Colclough.
Congratulations to Rachel – the prize will shortly be on its way to her!
Love to visit Aix
I would love to visit Cote d’Azur
Frejus
I stayed there when about 7 – 8 years old and would live to go back Also to Grasse to the perfume factories
I’d love to visit Cannes for the film festival, all that glamour.
That’s almost an impossible question to answer. I think I’d like to go back to Nice just to pretend I lived the glamorous lifestyle that seems to pervade the atmosphere there rather than living in the Tupperware box skies of home!
Monaco…..I have only seen it from the road high above ….one evening….and it was all lit up and looking resplendent….magical!!
Grasse in the S of France, would love to see how the perfume is made.
St Tropez, went there 35 years ago as a single man, would love to return and see how it has changed.
Puycelsi in the Tarn, a beautiful hilltop village in a lovely area.
Antibes – then I could meet up with some lovely friends that I don’t see often enough.
My favorite is Arles.
I don’t know that much about France, but Cote d’Azur sounds lovely
I would love to go to Guilhem-le-Desert in Languedoc Roussillon, South France. It is beautiful, dramatic and very atmospheric. I would love to swim in the river there as well.
La Croix Valmer – I’ve had some lovely holidays there in the past and would love to go again. It’s close enough to St Tropez to share the beauty that made it famous yet far enough away to be away from the crowds.
I’d love to join the jet setters in Cannes x
I have never been to France! Would be ecstatic to visit anywhere that I could sip the wine, eat great food, enjoy the art, or have a view of the ocean from my room! Have read about the colors and the beauty! Would love to just soak it all in!
Monaco to watch the Grand Prix would be a dream come true
I would love to be in Cannes when the film festival is on.
I would visit Les Îles de Lérins.
I would love to spend a few days biking through towns around Côte d’Azur.
I would love to visit Cannes for the Film Festival in May. I would people watch and soak up the atmosphere as well as watching as many films as possible. I have visited the South of France but in a very old van and camping in a tiny tent.
I’m fortunate enough to have visited a France a few times, but I somehow never made it to Provence. 🙁 I would love to spend a carefree few weeks in St-Remy-de-Provence–no set schedule, no commitments, no time pressure…just time to wander and enjoy.
Antibes to visit friends
Arles, for its Roman history, and its art history.
Very difficult to choose just one place but I’d have to say Beaulieu-sur-Mer, just east of Nice. We stayed there years ago and it’s the place we’d want to retire to. Absolutely beautiful, one of many jewels on the Côte d’Azur.
The village of Cabris – on the side of the hill, with a fabulous view to Cannes and the Sea in the distance.
Brignoles, where in 1977 I spent Monday to Friday teaching English (with a Scottish accent) to bemused school pupils then at weekends drove around Provence in my beloved Citroen Dyane. Would love to go back.
Villefranche……beautiful, historic, relaxing and romantic. Unfortunately, our cruise ship only gave us a few hours there but would love to explore this lovely port at a more leisurely pace….and try the restaurants!!!
I’d love to go to Cassis. I almost stayed there a few years ago, but had to cancel as the car broke down.
Pyrenees for me please!
The Book in Bar – International Bookshop in Aix-en-Provence #bookheaven
I would love to visit Grasse in the South of France. The home of the most beautiful fragrances. Also to visit the Musee International De last Perfumeries.
Without a doubt it has to be St Tropez, sipping a glass of wine on the coast whilst watching the rich and famous go about their daily lives! I can dream!
St-Remy-de-Provence – the heart of Provence! 🙂
Would love to be there on French National Day in July
