We are delighted to offer 3 copies of Every Shade of Happy by Phyllida Shrimpton – CORNWALL

Heartwarming and uplifting, Every Shade of Happy will make you laugh, cry and want to call your grandfather. Perfect for fans of Marianne Cronin and Hazel Prior.
Algernon is at the end of his life.
His granddaughter is at the start of hers.
But they have more in common than they think…
Every day of Algernon’s 97 years has been broken up into an ordered routine. That’s how it’s been since the war, and he’s not about to change now.
Until his 15-year-old granddaughter arrives on his doorstep, turning Algernon’s black-and-white life upside down. Everything from Anna’s clothes to the way she sits glued to her phone is strange to Algernon, and he’s not sure he likes it.
But as the weeks pass, Algernon is surprised to discover they have something in common after all – Anna is lonely, just like him. Can Algernon change the habits of a lifetime to bring the colour back into Anna’s world?

I’ve stayed in a little cottage in the Camel Valley near Bodmin. It’s a great place to base yourself so you can explore the area.
Porthleven is simply beautiful and, perhaps more importantly, the trifle icecream from one of the cute little shops is the best thing I’ve ever tasted!
I have never been to Cornwall, but I would like to spend a holiday there at some stage. I saw Cornwall on television recently and I was amazed about blue the sea was: a Mediterranean colour blue!

I recommenced visiting the Kynance Cove which is famous for its white sands, bright blue sea, and rock stacks.

I’ve never been to Cornwall. The last book I read set in Cornwall was Fern Britton’s The Newcomer – I was disappointed with the book.
Cornwall has so much to offer with beautiful beaches and wild moorland as well as pretty villages. I particularly love the area around the Helford River.

I have since visited Mousehole when they have their Christmas lights, it is the best Christmas lights, some of them are on the sea.
I’ve just come back from a week’s holiday in Cornwall. Would suggest: St Michaels Mount, Lands End, Falmouth as good places to visit.

Cornwall – I enjoyed a holiday in Port Isaac way back in 1972, before Doc Martin highlighted its charms. I remember the clifftop walks and the blustery spring weather.
The best book about Cornwall has to be Jamaica Inn. My mother treated us to lunch there and, to my shame, I behaved like a grumpy, ungrateful teenager throughout the meal. How I have wished I could turn the clock back!
