    I think of The Dales, Heartbeat, All creatures great and small, fish and chips in Whitby, walking along the cliffs on the first day of the millenium from Whitby to Robin Hoods bay and last but by no means least – Gervais Phinn, his hilarious books and stage shows.

    James Herriott’s vet books. The series was the first I ever read and actually enjoyed. Loved the descriptions of the pets, their owners and of Yorkshire.

    My school trip to York always springs to mind as we didn’t have many holidays back then so this was really exciting. I can remember so vividly York Minster and the wall, also the cobbled streets.

    Aw! You kinda gave the game away for those of us ‘southerners’ of a ‘certain age’, as my first thought when Yorkshire is mentioned will always be the successful TV programme, ‘All Creatures Great And Small’

    On not such a happy note, once again, those of us born at a certain time will also remember Yorkshire being synonymous with Hindley and Brady ‘The Moors Murderers’.
