GIVEAWAY! – 3 copies of The Women Who Ran Away by Sheila O’Flanagan (France / Spain)

23rd August 2020

UK only GIVEAWAY

We are absolutely DELIGHTED to offer 3 copies of Sheila O’Flanagan’s new novel The Women Who Ran Away, set through France and Spain as our giveaway this week. It’s a brilliant read!

The Women Who Ran Away

Deira isn’t the kind of woman to steal a car. Or drive to France alone with no plan. But then, Deira didn’t expect to be single. Or to suddenly realise that the only way she can get the one thing she wants most is to start breaking every rule she lives by.

Grace has been sent on a journey by her late husband, Ken. She doesn’t really want to be on it but she’s following his instructions, as always. She can only hope that the trip will help her to forgive him. And then – finally – she’ll be able to let him go.

Brought together by unexpected circumstances, Grace and Deira find that it’s easier to share secrets with a stranger, especially in the shimmering sunny countryside of Spain and France. But they soon find that there’s no escaping the truth, whether you’re running away from it or racing towards it . . .

I’d run away to the seaside
    If only for one day
    I’d act like I was 6 again
And on the beach I’d play
    I’d build the biggest castle
And skim stones on the sea
I’d like to take that time away
Then go back to being me

I would love to run away to Hotel Torridor on the shore of Loch Torridor in Scotland. I watched a program on this hotel and it was portrayed as absolute bliss. It is set in the middle of nowhere in large grounds which you could walk. Along with plenty of seating areas for you to sit and take in the peace and quiet providing plenty of opportunity for precious book reading and become one with the world.

Nowhere exotic really, just a place that I associate with a happy time and was too young to know what life had in store. So, as child about 9 – 11 we used to go on family holidays to a static caravan at beautiful Woolacombe with a clubhouse. Another family came with us and it had everything you could want as a kid – a fair, games room, evening disco and the excitement of all being crammed into a caravan,!
