Five Great Books set in NORTHERN ITALY
GIVEAWAY! 5 copies of “The Pull Of The River” (a journey into the wild and watery heart of Britain)!
17th February 2019
We are delighted to be able to offer you 5 copies of The Pull Of The River by Matt Gaw.
“..if it doesn’t make you want to pick up a paddle and head to your nearest river, you’re reading it wrong…”

An antidote to bad news, this is pure armchair escapism, described variously as ‘joyful’, ‘glorious’ and ‘spirited’.
Lyrical, insightful and brimming with personality, it’s the perfect British travelogue for the generation inspired by Roger Deakin’s Waterlog.
In The Pull of the River two foolhardy explorers do what we would all love to do: they turn their world upside down and seek adventure on their very own doorstep. In a handsome, homemade canoe, painted a joyous nautical red the colour of Mae West’s lips, Matt and his friend James delve into a watery landscape that invites us to see the world through new eyes.
HOW TO ENTER:
Just tell us the one big adventure you would like to take in your life (or maybe you have already taken your big adventure)! Would it be like Matt building your own boat and setting off? Would you like to climb Everest? Would you like to fly in a hot air balloon….?
Let us know by midnight (UK time) on Saturday, 2 March 2019 and the first 5 names out of the hat will be sent a copy by the publisher/publicist. UK ONLY!

Wow!! Thank you so much!!
I’d love to start my own business, that’d be my adventure
I’m a solo traveller who doesn’t drive… so in an ideal world I’d hire a robot (no need to make polite conversation) to take me on a mega road trip across Russia.
I’d love to go to Antarctica in one of those ice trawler cruises. Hopefully stopping off At the Falklands on the way
To be one of the first to read, “In the pull of the River”.
We had a dream when we got married 39 years ago, to see the Canadian Rockies and 6 years ago we were lucky enough to have that dream come true and spent 4 weeks driving, hiking, zip wiring and walking on glaciers. We saw bears, moose beavers and marmot It was amazing. We would love to visit New Zealand too but who knows?
There’s always adventures to be had! Every trip is an adventure, whether it’s just down the road or 3,000 miles away. I’ve travelled all over, but I still have Tibet as a must do on my list
I think I probably had my wild adventure as a kid, my friends & I swam every summer day in the fast-flowing River Arun, dirty, dangerous & quite thrilling. If we judged the tide & current wrongly we’d end up two miles downstream on the opposite bank. How none of us drowned I’ll never know.
I could say my being in a wheelchair any venture to a new place and all that entails (where the accessible loos are etc) is an adventure. As for the one BIG adventure I’d like to undertake? I’d love to go on an archaeological dig in Egypt (preferably with Indiana Jones)
where I’d discover an undisturbed tomb that was of course sealed with a curse.
When I was little I never dreamed I would visit Australia because it was a million miles away.i have visited Australia 7times I have family living there now I would never have thought that all those years ago.
I can only dream about having an adventure these days and that makes me tired.
I did learn to swim when I was 43 and was good enough to teach but never enjoyed it, lol.
I would love to ride a galloping horse along the seashore.
Not my idea of an an adventure of a lifetime now as far too scary, but as a teenager I dreamed of going white water rafting and canyoning and actually went with my dad! Now it would be chucking everything in and moving to a quiet seaside town with my books!
I’ve already had quite a few Awfully Big Adventures in life, including living in Borneo & visiting China, but hot air ballooning, Machu Pichu & the Galapagos still await me!
I would like to visit Uganda or Rwanda and see gorillas.
I’m afraid I’m not one for big adventures but love reading about others doing them!
My biggest adventure would be a walking holiday round New Zealand.
Going solo to Greece in my fifties.
Mine would be leisurely chugging along Britain’s canals, stopping everywhere along the way to see more of our lovely country.
I would love to fly over The Grand Canyon in a helicopter x
