GIVEAWAY – a copy of “Venice Deserted”, a brilliant photographic tribute to the city in lockdown
14th March 2021
GIVEAWAY – a copy of Venice Deserted, a brilliant photographic tribute to the city in Lockdown by Danielle and Luc Carton.

We are now on the first year anniversary when much of Europe closed down due to Covid. Some countries were timely in doing so, others tardy. With today’s giveaway, it’s off to Venice and we are delighted to offer a copy of VENICE DESERTED by Danielle and Luc Carton, published by Jonglez Publishing, who spent the Spring of 2020 creating a photographic chronicle of their home city during lockdown.
The most amazing thing is – and it is at some levels quite discombobulating – that there are no people in the photos. And we really are not used to seeing La Serenissima devoid of people, or trinket sellers or grande navi, the big cruise ships that dogged the skyline in different times.

Sydney which is a city I hope to visit again in 2022.
London
Paris
Barcelona – empty of people
I would choose Venice. I’ve been many times but the last time may have been the final one as it’s just too crowded these days (well, in normal times!) Love the city though, it’s so beautiful.
Buenos Aires
Santorini
Oxford
Hello, I would like to see Pristina in Kosovo in a coffee table book. I know very little about the city and I think it would be fascinating to see how it has changed over the years. Thank you for the chance to win.
I’d love a big glossy coffee table book of Edinburgh. So many beautiful buildings and fascinating graveyards
Chicago. Just love the vibe and the architecture.
Istanbul. Though Venice would be great – so beautiful that my Dad went there on BOTH his honeymoons. 🙂
I’d love to see Sydney captured, it stole my heart!
Paris
Tehran, Iran.
Paris
Barcelona
Athens would be lovely
The old city of Jerusalem is very intriguing. It would certainly be a challenge to photograph as well.
Oslo – I loved seeing ti in all its winter splendour
the madness and the mayhem of Naples (Italy) – it`s an addictive city and the polar opposite of serene Venice
We loved Barcelona and would happily have a book of fantastic photos on my coffee table, many thanks
Prague, as it’s such a beautiful city and also special to me and my husband.
Barcelona.
Florence, Rome, Assisi – I visited Italy in the 1960’s – but have never had the chance to go back YET! We also visited Venice – beautiful – and this is where I had my most expensive cup of coffee ever – on our last night in St Mark’s Square!
I’ve visited Venice and loved it! Would be lovely to see it in its natural beauty, sans tourists! I’d also like to see a coffee table sized book of Paris in lockdown.
It would have to be London, especially a London with no one there!
I would like a photographic album of Lancaster.
