27th October 2019
Have you discovered the Baby Ganesh series by Vaseem Khan? If not, then you need to remedy this immediately!
We are offering a signed copy of The Strange Disappearance of a Bollywood Star, set in Mumbai and no. 3 in the series!
Inspector Chopra and his elephant sidekick are investigating the dark side of Bollywood.
Mumbai thrives on extravagant spectacles and larger-than-life characters.
But even in the city of dreams, there is no guarantee of a happy ending.
Rising star and incorrigible playboy Vikram Verma has disappeared, leaving his latest film in jeopardy. Hired by Verma’s formidable mother to find him, Inspector Chopra and his sidekick, baby elephant Ganesha, embark on a journey deep into the world’s most flamboyant movie industry.
As they uncover feuding stars, failed investments and death threats, it seems that many people have a motive for wanting Verma out of the picture.
And yet, as Chopra has long suspected, in Bollywood the truth is often stranger than fiction…

Congratulations to ALYSON, whose name came out of the hat today!!!
Has to be Scooby Doo! Might not be the bravest of companions, but he certainly helps to get to the bottom of any mystery!
I would love to see a Investigating Panda
We have an Afghan Hound called Hector, whom we call Inspector Hector. He is empathetic, fast as lightening, has an eye for the ladies, cunning, disarmingly handsome, patient and intelligent. Now those are qualities you want in a good sleuth.
I love Mog the cat because she is daft
I’d have a goldfish. Just think about what they must hear – nobody ever guards their conversation when there’s an innocent looking goldfish swimming around in a tank nearby. They must overhear all sorts of plans, plots and confessions.
Now, I need to work out a way for the fish to report back to me….
I have pet rats so I’m a bit biased but I think they’d be really good – sneaky, clever, fast and cute!

Rats would be a great one! They’re so intelligent!
Not sure they would be good sleuths but I have a soft spot for hamsters. And they can at least get into small spaces.

And easily lost i would imagine too!
Hello! I had to think about this but I think I would choose a pigeon to be my investigating side kick as it would be quite inconspicuous, no one would notice it as being suspicious if we were outside and I think they are very intelligent.

A pigeon is such a good idea!! I hadn’t thought about them 🙂
I think maybe a dog as they are intelligent and trackers/sniffers!

They would definitely be a good one 🙂
My favourite animal characters are the daemons in Phillip Pullman’s books. I always imagine my deamon would be a cat-like creature.

That’s a great idea Fiona! 🙂
I imagine a dog would be the most useful, especially a breed which is good at sniffing out clues !
I would love this book as I went to my first Divali celebration last night and the friendship and generosity was amazing. AND I finally got a chance to wear my gorgeous Moroccan kaftan!

Sounds like a lot of fun! And a dog would be a great choice!
A dog as they can sniff out trouble!

Very good choice! 🙂
I’d choose a bat, active at night, happy to quietly ‘hang around’ daytime. Used to life on the ‘dark side’.

A bat is such an unusual choice – but such a good one!
A meerkat … the way they sit up just watching and waiting

A meerkat! Very good choice for observing!
Tough question. I think a German Shepherd. They’re intelligent and obedient. I love the terrier in Agatha Christie’s Dumb Witness.

German Shepherd is a good choice! 🙂
I’d choose to be an elephant – large, powerful and with a good memory.

Good memory – but a bit big!!
Love cats but can’t imagine one as a sleuth. A chimp maybe.

Good choice! 🙂
It has to be a cat – like Bob!

Definitely!
It would have to be a bird of some sort, to see things from a different perspective 🙂
1 Comment
Definitely Linda! A bird would be really helpful 🙂
Lassie, couldn’t watch without shedding a tear!

One of the saddest films!
I’d choose to be a terrier. Their sense of smell is amazing….

That’s a good one Lana!
I’d choose a cat. You can learn a lot about people from their reaction to cats, and even more from a cat’s reaction to them. Plus if somebody’s up to no good, they won’t notice if a cat is watchi;g them like they would with a dog.

A cat is a really good one – they’re always watching and no-one would notice!
I’d choose a giraffe to be part of an investigative duo – that long neck may be helpful
1 Comment
A Giraffe! Might be a bit hard to hide though!
I’d choose a Ferret because they can sneak into small spaces and spy

Ferret is a good one!!
