The perfect feel-good, new book club read to uplift you in 2022
Four old friends. Thrown back together after forty years apart. What could possibly go wrong?
In the 1970s, The Girls were best friends sharing a house and good times: Zara the famous diva actor, Val the uptight solicitor, Jackie the wild child and Pauline the quirky introvert. Now they’re in their twilight years, and Zara suggests that they live with her to support each other through old age.
Initially, being housemates again is just as much fun as in their heyday. But then Zara reveals the real reason she asked them to move in with her, and suddenly things take a sinister turn.
As the women confront their demons they come under the spotlight of the press, the police and an angry parrot. With their lives spiralling out of control can they save their friendships and each other?

I’d like to see the Serre de la Madone garden.
Would love to visit a friend who has been restoring a derelict farmhouse near Albi.
Cannes would be amazing to see.
Does Monaco count?
Oh all of it. Nice would be amazing
I’ve never been but Menton looks lovely to explore with its colourful streets x
I would love to ex[lore some of the tiny villages along the route.
I’ve never been but would love to drive along the French Riviera with the top down!
In my twenties we camped at Le Lavandou which is not spoilt like the well known places further up the coast. The beach was wonderful and had some lovely places to eat and drink. Would love to return one day.
Never been to the South if France so it’s me who needs the tips!
I’d love to see St Tropez in the sunshine
Anywhere in the South of France sounds good to me. Have never been, but would love to go one day.
I would love to explore Cannes and Saint-Tropez. Such fabulous glamorous places!
French Rivera, it’s on my bucket list!
I’ve never been to the south of France so any of it would be lovely!
I have been to Cannes – stopped there on a mediterranean cruise years ago and it was so lovely – would definitely recommend a Med cruise as you get to see lots of beautiful places over a week – you can always go back another time to explore areas you liked.
I would love to see The French Rivera
I’d love to go to Grasse and see the lavender fields!
I spent some time in Nice, Monaco and Marseille a few years ago but I don’t feel like I was there long enough. I would love to go back and explore more of the French Riviera.
I would love to return to Nice. Many years ago we were lucky enough to be there for the flower parade along the Promenade des Anglais which was a great sight. We also loved the variety and all the different aspects of the city
The French Riviera is somewhere I’d love to visit one day
The french rivera would be lovely to see
The French Rivera- fabulous weather great places to visit
The French Riviera is somewhere ive always wanted to visit
Let’s all Club together
If you go to (as we might call it) the “French Riviera”, nowadays I’d give Saint-Tropez and Cannes a wide berth because IMHO I think they’ve been spoilt somewhat by the Hoi Polloi! Whereas, further along the coast eastwards past Nice towards Italy, I’d make a visit to the “Billionaires’ Playground”; the tiny city-state of Monaco which is famous (eg) for its lavish wealth and casinos. Monaco still keeps its charm : having been tastefully & luxuriously maintained and developed by its rich clientele and if you can afford it : why not pop along to Monte Carlo and view the unspoilt Casino and it’s environs. And if you’re really feeling flush – try the Ferrari Sports Car Experience – and imagine you’re a Formula 1 racing driver !
would love to travel around Nice
I’d love to explore the Southern Coast. We have friends who go and they may it sound so stunning
I love Antibes, Nice and Marseille. Have a boat or sail tour in Marseille and have a bike tour in Antibes and just walk around in Nice!
If you’re going there on a girls trip pack a large box of tissues – in my experience someone always ends up crying!!
I would like to visit Cap Martin we have worked our way along the coast by train staying for a few days in one place and taking day trips to the next station along the line and Cap Martin was to have been our next stop but we had to return home quickly as my mother died, so it would be nice to carry on with our trip.
I would like to visit Valauris Golfe to wander the streets and see the sculptures created by Roger Capron.
I am lucky enough to go to Cote d’Azur every summer in Menton which I love! I would like to go to Marseille next which I have never visited!
I would like to go back to Nice it was such a long time ago
I’d love to visit the beautiful city of Marseille and also Nice
I have fond memories of our road trip of South of France. The French Riviera, Provence and Camargue.
I would love to visit Nice and hang out with the rich and famous
I would love to go to Saint-Tropez. It looks so beautiful.
I would love to tour the area of Aix-en-Provence with its old narrow streets full of colour and its glorious pavement cafes. A trip to the famous lavender fields with their heady perfume and brilliant blue flowers would be on my list as well as visiting the beautiful Cassis beach for a swim. Not least, the port city of Marseilles with its ancient cultural attractions and markets and cosmopolitan mix of culture would complete my tour to the South of France.
Cavalaire is a beautiful spot .
I had a lovely holiday once in Collioure, which is not far from the Spanish border. Beautiful former fishing village, with amazing light, so beloved of artists!
I also love Nice, & have spent many happy times there, visiting art galleries, markets, walking along the Promenade des Anglais, & sunbathing on the many beaches there.
The tourist resorts are lovely, of course, that’s why they are so popular, but if you have transport try to visit some lesser known spots where you’ll find beaches with scarcely a soul on them and beautiful inland villages, sometimes with amazing markets.
The lavender fields of Grasse would be amazing x
