Your chance to win a great New York themed prize in our competition this month!

19th October 2016

new york themed prizeWe have a really great New York themed prize package for you this month… containing no less than 5 items!

  • A copy of Bright, Precious Days by Jay McInerney. The book describes the travails of an upmarket family in New York during 2007 and 2008 in the run up to Obama’s first election victory. It is well written and great on both location and time – truly bringing the city to life.
  • A copy of Men Like Air by Tom Connolly. Another book great for its New York background – the story moves around Manhattan and the other New York boroughs, painting brilliant pictures of each.
  • A new Marco Polo guide to the city – one of the most informative that we have encountered, full of off-beat observations and unusual places to visit.
  • An adult colouring book featuring many famous (and some not so famous) New York buildings.
  • Finally a pack of crayons to help with your colouring in!

To enter the competition all you have to do is write in the Comments Box below the one building in New York that you would really love to visit.

It really is that easy!

The competition closes at midnight UK time on Sunday 30th October – and the winner will be the first name out of the hat on Monday 31st.

Only one!! I’m lucky I have been to NYC numerous times and have probably visited all the buildings I ‘want’to see so I will go with my favourite Serendipity 3 fabulous cafe for pure indulgence. Be prepared for a long wait to get in though!

It has to be the iconic Empire State Building, preferably when it’s all lit up like in the end scene of Sleepless in Seattle!

I have been to NYC a couple of times. I have checked out most of the main buildings but for some reason have never crossed over the Brooklyn Bridge. I would love to do a walking tour there and it is on my next visit agenda.

I was lucky to be in NYC in Oct 2014, and I would like to *return* to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. I was taking my time, reading and listening to everything —was so engaged, that I ran out of time and missed several parts of the exhibits!

Managed to visit New York a month or so before 9/11 and my friend and I just couldn’t take in the size of the buildings(Wasn’t a great help that all the way up in the lift she kept saying if there is a terrorist attack we stand no chance!!)So to see as it is now would really bring things home for me

I visited NYC for the first time in September and spent most of our time in midtown. We saw the Public Library and Bryant Park, Rockefeller Centre, MoMA, Yankee Stadium, Citi field, and the Billie Jean King Tennis Centre. I wasn’t able to visit the 911 Memorial Museum and will make it a priority on my next visit.

I worked in New York for a while so a did see quite a few buildings albeit briefly. However, I didn’t get to Central Park so although it’s not a building, I’d really like to go there as I feel it is quintessentially New York.

It has to be the Chrysler! I somehow managed to miss this on my last and only trip to New York…but many episodes of Sex and the City later, for me it’s THE iconic symbol of NYC and a darn beautiful piece of architecture!
