Romance set on the ALGARVE

14th October 2026

Holiday romance set on the ALGARVEThe Hotel by The Sea by Julie Caplin, romance set on the Algarve.

Rebecca has joined the team at a family run hotel above Praia de Falésia in the Algarve, and virtually her first encounter is the with the lovely Felipe. The family team comprises mainly female relations so, just maybe, he is spoiled by all the women in his orbit. Rebecca – mending her (slightly) broken heart after Will – is inclined to find out more about him, and already on her first full day, he takes her to beautiful Falésia Beach, where the atmosphere is ripe with flirtatiousness.

She is employed by the family as a Pilates instructor but certainly gets sidetracked by Felipe. They head off to Lisbon in his smart car, a city that is all “hills and stairs” and not for the faint-hearted. All the while she is wondering when they might progress beyond mere kissing….

He introduces her to “fado” and food and gets her to be more adventurous, because when it comes to culinary matters, her tastes are a little two-dimensional and narrow. He suggests places for her to visit in Lisbon, like Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, whilst he is attending to business duties. The Alfama area keeps her well entertained and of an evening there is a trip to Taberna Moderna, with its extensive gin selection. This rounds off a superb day for her.

As the friendship with Felipe burgeons, she has to face an unwelcome intrusion into her life.

This is an entertaining read that takes the reader to the beautiful Algarve.
