Ireland Writer Tours 2020 – an exciting opportunity
14th December 2019
We are joining together with our friend, Fiona Claire, at Ireland Writer Tours to help promote their 2020 programme… and to make a special offer to TripFiction site visitors.
Ireland Writers Tours offers inspirational pilgrimages and opportunities for writers and like-minded individuals to realise their creative dreams. The conference/tour package includes 8 days/7 nights rotating between days of touring many famous as well as little known sites in Ireland with writers’ conference days. The conference includes private consultations, group classes, workshops, and individual attention aimed at each of the 12 participants’ personal needs. Often times, they have several non-writing participants who enjoy additional tours instead of participating in the conference days. 2020 will be their 6th year and also the year their home base (Galway) is the European City of Culture. Next summer will definitely be a fun time to visit the west of Ireland!
The teachers for the two weeks in 2020 are as follows:
- 28 June – 5 July 2020 – THRILLING CONCEPTS: HOW TO CREATE BEST-SELLERS – with Jennifer Dornbush, multi-published author, screenwriter, editor, and forensic specialist, and Jill Marr, agent and editor with the Sandra Dykstra Agency who represents authors of suspense, thrillers, mysteries, horror, women’s fiction, and historical fiction. They will tailor their classes to meet the specific needs of the 12 participants who join us. If you’d like more info, and want to see the itinerary, please check this link.
- 12-19 July 2020 – CRAFTING IRRESISTIBLE PAGE-TURNERS – with multi-published & award-winning author and Writers’ Digest instructor, Donna Russo Morin and Patricia Nelson, agent and editor with the Marsal Lyon Agency who represents authors of young adult, middle grade, womens’ fiction and romance. They will tailor their classes to meet the specific needs of the 12 participants who join us. If you’d like more info, and want to see the itinerary, please check this link.
The conference/tour weeks are great opportunities to meet, learn from, and network with these professional instructors, as well as fellow writers and book-lovers. Participants also have the opportunity to pitch to the agents who may choose to represent them and their writing. In previous tours, several of our participants have signed with agents, and one in particular scored a 3-book, 6-figure deal shortly after attending an IWT conference!
The pricing is $1,995 per tour for ‘early bird’ bookings before 20th January 2020. Thereafter the price is $2,195 per tour until bookings close on 15th March. These prices are roughly equivalent to £1,514 and £1,590 respectively. TripFiction site visitors can claim a $100 (£76) discount off either price. The prices include all classes (including some one-on-one tuition), accommodation, local travel, full Irish breakfasts, and a number of lunches as well as a welcome banquet. For both writers and non-writers alike this really is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in Irish culture, and learn a great deal about professional writing skills. The tours have in the past proved a fascinating experience for those who have joined.
