October GIVEAWAY – Two top thrillers in a book gift box
3rd October 2022
We are delighted to bring you an October GIVEAWAY – two top thrillers in a book gift box. OPEN INTERNATIONALLY
The Invisible by Peter Papathanasiou set in NW GREECE
Burnt-out from policework, Detective Sergeant George Manolis flies from Australia to Greece for a holiday. Recently divorced and mourning the death of his father, who emigrated from the turbulent Prespes region which straddles the borders of Greece, Albania and North Macedonia, Manolis hopes to reconnect with his roots and heritage.
“A brilliant new name in Australian crime” Weekend Australian
On arrival, Manolis learns of the disappearance of an ‘invisible’ – a local man who lives without a scrap of paperwork. The police and some locals believe the man’s disappearance was pre-planned, while others suspect foul play. Reluctantly, Manolis agrees to work undercover to find the invisible, and must navigate the complicated relationships of a tiny village where grudges run deep.
“Papathanasiou writes unsparingly, confidently, and compellingly” The Quietus
It soon becomes clear to Manolis that he may never locate a man who, for all intents and purposes, doesn’t exist. And with the clock ticking, the ghosts of the past continue to haunt the events of today as Manolis’s investigation leads him to uncover a dark and long-forgotten practice.
The Lover by Helen Flood, set in NORWAY
Is it worse to deceive to your husband or the police?
Rikke is lying to them both.
But how many lies can she get away with?
When her upstairs neighbour Jørgen is found murdered, she’s questioned alongside her husband. How can she admit that she and Jørgen were having an affair? Or explain to the police the complexity of her feelings? The hint of relief that he’s dead. And what would they say if they knew she used a spare key to enter his apartment the morning after he was killed?
Rikke knows she can’t hide the evidence of the affair from the police. And if she’s caught in her lie, suspicion will turn to her.
With her perfect family life threatening to unravel, Rikke realises that finding the killer is the only way to put herself in the clear. So long as the killer doesn’t get to her first.

i love Kate Mosse – one of her books – Labyrinth – is my favourite book
Stephen King
I’m a big fan of Will Dean.
John Grisham
Stephen King
My favourite thriller writer is Estelle Ryan. The Dr Genevieve Lenard series based mainly around Geneva is brilliant. She has created a great group of characters you root for as well as educating us about art and high-functioning autism. Estelle interacts with her readers on Facebook and keeps us updated, so feels much more than just a name on a book.
Am in the midst of a Lisa Jewell on audio from the library – it’s keeping me hooked right to the end!
Dan Brown
I love Ellie Griffiths’ books because she has painted such wonderful lead characters who we feel we really know. The last book concerning the pandemic was very topical. I love her depictions of Norfolk yoo

Jeffery Deaver
Love his Colter Shaw character
John Callaghan – Kyrgyzstan series
Robert Crais
I love his Elvis Cole and Joe Pike series. They are always unique and the action starts on Page 1. I can hardly put them down once I start reading. I like the enigma of Joe Pike and the humor of Elvis Cole. His newest, Racing the Light, comes out November 1 and I can hardly wait to read it.
His writing is excellent and the plots layered. I have read all books in the series and I never guess the ending early on in the story. In fact, I usually read with racing heart and my breath held until the final scene. The descriptions of the locales are detailed and capture the essence of the cities where the action takes place.
All in all, Crais’ books are top of the line.
David Baldacci
“Thriller” is an interesting category: it can include murder/mystery; psychological; espionage; and financial intrigue. I have favorite authors in each of these categories. I would say Daniel Silva hits the mark for me (as well as many that have been mentioned by others) and his book also include a strong sense of place: Israel, Italy, etc.
Michael Connelly
If we are talking a full-on deep, dark thriller writer, then it has to be German author Sebastian Fitzek. Read one of his books and you won’t know what’s happened to you! 🙂
Dan Brown
John Grisham
Michael Scanlon – dark and gripping and fun for me to explore Ireland further, this time as an armchair traveler
Val McDermid

Anthony John Horowitz
Catherine Ryan Howard.
Michael Connelly
Cara Hunter is my favourite thriller author
Depends how you define “thriller” but I love the Steig Larsson books. Pity there were so few.
I like a mixture of thrillers but Karin Slaughter is probably my favourite author in this genre.
I love Will Dean’s books, especially his Tuva stories, so evocative of cold, dark rural Sweden….he doesn’t just write it, he lives it!
