Within the intricate histories there is a wealth of information about wine making from the planting of a cutting to wine tasting in high society. It is a novel about love, loyalty and betrayal. To refer to it as colorful is an understatement. MLHolton elevates historical fiction to a level of excellence. She does it all with aplomb.
