Genre(s): Historical, Fiction, Time Slip
Era(s): 1740's and 1960's
This follow-up to the author’s first book ‘Outlander’ (‘Cross-stitch’ in the UK) visits the 1960’s before returning to time travelling English nurse Claire and Jaime, her Scottish warrior husband, in 18th century Edinburgh, Paris, and the Scottish Highlands.
This time, with Claire’s knowledge of the future, she and Jaime move to Paris and try to stop the Jacobite Rising. Even though the book is over 700 pages, the story is just as riveting, romantic, suspenseful and heartbreaking at the original Outlander. It is also rich in the history of the Jacobite Rising, Bonnie Prince Charlie, and the events that led up to the ill-fated Battle of Culloden.
