Two women, living two hundred years apart but closer than sisters.
Mary, miserable in her marriage to Thomas Carre, a merchant and privateer and living in the new family mansion in Georgian Guernsey.
Lucy, separated from her husband after a tragic loss and now acting as an unwilling sitter for her elderly grandfather, Gregory Carre, who has inherited the same mansion.
Lucy is haunted by Mary’s continued presence in the house and finds herself being pulled more and more back in time. How is it possible for her to live as Mary? To experience scenes from her tragic life? Lucy is forced to come to terms with Mary’s grief as well as her own.
The more enmeshed she becomes the more anxious Lucy is to discover the truth. Why is Mary still restless? What caused her mysterious disappearance two hundred years ago?
And can Lucy move on from her own loss to find happiness again?

Ive been to Jersey and loved it – so full of history.
Never been, but would love to visit Jersey. It looks so relaxing
I’d love to go, never been, all look stunning
I have never been but would love to visit the Jersey War Tunnels and Mont Orgueil Castle
I fancy going to Jersey. Never been to any of the Channel Islands.
I haven’t been but I’d love to go. It’s always been cheaper and easier to go somewhere in Europe, that’s why I haven’t been; I believe it’s going to change
I’ve never been but I’d love to visit especially Alderney! I’d love to visit the railway
Loved my visit to Jersey a few years ago. Wonderful coastal walks, fascinating history and Gerald Durrell’s zoo-what more can you ask for!
would love to visit Jersey when they have the flower festival
The nearest I’ve been to the Channel Islands is in the distance from a cross channel ferry! I’d love to explore all of them and find out more about their history in general and their experiences in World War II in particular.
Never been but want to
I’ve been to Jersey. Excellent – hope to get back there someday.
I’ve never been but would love to visit Guernsey at some time and visit Castle Cornet

I have never been to the channel Islands but I would like to go to Jersey at some point, we are now discovering our own country since covid, starting with Cornwall in June. So exciting times ahead.
I have never been to any of the Channel Island but would love to visit any of them!
I have visited Guernsey a few times and just once to Jersey very different islands and for me a lovely island to walk but it was some years since my last visit so things do change, but never fancied a hire car as roads so narrow but they did have good buses so would go out on foot and get a bus back, but I do remember some very good pubs with great local food.
I’ve never been but I would love to visit Jersey. It looks so pretty.
I’ve never been to the Channels Islands but I would love to go.
I have never been to the Chanel Islands but it’s on my list.
I would prefer to visit Guernsey first, simply from tv coverage, and books I have read about there.
I have never visited the Channel Islands, although I would very much like to.
I don’t think I wouldn’t necessarily like to live on, or spend too much time on Sark, however it has no street lights and was Europe’s fist international ‘Dark Sky’ community and that must be amazing.
Who knows, maybe I could learn to live that slow pace of life with my 500 or so neighbours! 🙂
I’ve been to Guernsey. I visited as I decided to complete my A-level history project on the occupation during WW2. I Interviewed a lot of the local people. It’s full of very interesting history.
I would like to go to the channel islands particularly Jersey to see the beautiful Jersey cows. I like the idea of the islands where cars are not allowed but I have mobility problems so it would be difficult. I would though love to be somewhere where motor vehicles are not allowed and just sit and listen to the birds, the wind in the trees and the other sounds of nature. Also the night sky would, I hope, be awesome
The Channel Islands is on my list of places to visit. It always seemed a bit “too far” for a UK trip but “too near” to catch a plane. Maybe next year…
I have been to any but if I had to choose, its Guernsey for me! Thanks to the Guernsey literary and potato peel pie society
Moved to UK mainland in 2015 and this is on my to do list
I have been to Jersey once, but it was a long time ago. It was lovely, would be great to go back.
I’d love to return to Jersey as I visited in 1981 and loved it. I would also love to visit Guernsey and Herm too. The beaches and the tranquility really appeal to me. I love that some areas are still very French too.
My first trip to Jersey was a work trip the day of the shoe bomber incident. So, the flight was delayed and absolutely everything had to be checked in (even a newspaper!) we arrived seriously late, literally had 30 minutes for our meeting before heading back to the airport to return to London (there was also a festival that afternoon so roads were crazy busy)
Fortunately I managed another trip that went well and I even managed to have lunch that second trip 🙂
Would love to visit Jersey, never been further south than London but the Channel Islands all look fab!
Never been but would love to.
I’ve been to Jersey once before. It was beautiful but very cold. I’d love to go again in summer to enjoy it in warmer weather.
Would love to go to Jersey
Been to Jersey a few times and liked it. Love the Zoo.
I’ve been to Jersey but would really love to visit Guernsey one day.
I’ve been to Jersey twice and it’s my absolute favourite place in the world. We stayed at St Brelade’s and it was beautiful :). We went cliff diving !! I really want to go to Guernsey too
I enjoyed a lovely trip to Guernsey some years ago and would love to visit Jersey at some point.
I’m 53 & have only been to Jersey once so far, when I was 16! I won one flight in an art competition. Which meant mum had to pay for her flight, so just the two of us went. I remember meeting a man at the airport who asked where we had returned from. He thought it was New Jersey – we didn’t let on we had not travelled that far! 😉
I’ve never been to the Channel Islands but I would like to visit Jersey and Guernsey at some point. My grandmother was born in Jersey so it would be nice to visit the place where she was born.
Trained as a nurse in Jersey commencing 1980, best career decision I have ever made. Worked in the NHS from qualifying mainly in critical care. Best memory is staying in a camp site on Herm so little money but just such a fab time enjoying the Island. Happy days of my youth.
I love Guernsey. My first trip in a plane in 1976 . I fell in love with it then and have returned again and again. From the quaint streets of St Peter Port to the cliff paths, coves and sandy beaches it is magical. Somewhere special to me.
I would love to visit any of the Channel Islands – I collect their stamps and they are beautiful – scenery, animals, birds, flowers, etc. One day ……
I have been to Jersey, Guernsey & Sark, but many years ago!
Sark is traffic-free, so you are met off the ferry by a tractor drawn wagon!
I think I would go to Alderney the next time, to enjoy the beautiful beaches there!
I have never been. Hope to go one day.
