Two women, living two hundred years apart but closer than sisters.
Mary, miserable in her marriage to Thomas Carre, a merchant and privateer and living in the new family mansion in Georgian Guernsey.
Lucy, separated from her husband after a tragic loss and now acting as an unwilling sitter for her elderly grandfather, Gregory Carre, who has inherited the same mansion.
Lucy is haunted by Mary’s continued presence in the house and finds herself being pulled more and more back in time. How is it possible for her to live as Mary? To experience scenes from her tragic life? Lucy is forced to come to terms with Mary’s grief as well as her own.
The more enmeshed she becomes the more anxious Lucy is to discover the truth. Why is Mary still restless? What caused her mysterious disappearance two hundred years ago?

The nearest I’ve been to the Channel Islands is in the distance from a cross channel ferry! I’d love to explore all of them and find out more about their history in general and their experiences in World War II in particular.

I have visited Guernsey a few times and just once to Jersey very different islands and for me a lovely island to walk but it was some years since my last visit so things do change, but never fancied a hire car as roads so narrow but they did have good buses so would go out on foot and get a bus back, but I do remember some very good pubs with great local food.

I have never visited the Channel Islands, although I would very much like to.

I don’t think I wouldn’t necessarily like to live on, or spend too much time on Sark, however it has no street lights and was Europe’s fist international ‘Dark Sky’ community and that must be amazing.

Who knows, maybe I could learn to live that slow pace of life with my 500 or so neighbours! 🙂

I’ve been to Guernsey. I visited as I decided to complete my A-level history project on the occupation during WW2. I Interviewed a lot of the local people. It’s full of very interesting history.

I would like to go to the channel islands particularly Jersey to see the beautiful Jersey cows. I like the idea of the islands where cars are not allowed but I have mobility problems so it would be difficult. I would though love to be somewhere where motor vehicles are not allowed and just sit and listen to the birds, the wind in the trees and the other sounds of nature. Also the night sky would, I hope, be awesome

My first trip to Jersey was a work trip the day of the shoe bomber incident. So, the flight was delayed and absolutely everything had to be checked in (even a newspaper!) we arrived seriously late, literally had 30 minutes for our meeting before heading back to the airport to return to London (there was also a festival that afternoon so roads were crazy busy)
Fortunately I managed another trip that went well and I even managed to have lunch that second trip 🙂

I’m 53 & have only been to Jersey once so far, when I was 16! I won one flight in an art competition. Which meant mum had to pay for her flight, so just the two of us went. I remember meeting a man at the airport who asked where we had returned from. He thought it was New Jersey – we didn’t let on we had not travelled that far! 😉

Trained as a nurse in Jersey commencing 1980, best career decision I have ever made. Worked in the NHS from qualifying mainly in critical care. Best memory is staying in a camp site on Herm so little money but just such a fab time enjoying the Island. Happy days of my youth.

I have been to Jersey, Guernsey & Sark, but many years ago!
Sark is traffic-free, so you are met off the ferry by a tractor drawn wagon!
I think I would go to Alderney the next time, to enjoy the beautiful beaches there!
