GIVEAWAY! – 3 copies of THE WICKED GAME by Michelle Lawson, set in Kathmandu
13th January 2020
We are delighted to give you the opportunity to win one of 3 copies of THE WICKED GAME by Michelle Lawson, set in Kathmandu.
On a mission to change her predictable life, recently divorced Kate sets up a small business buying items from Nepal to sell back home. In colourful Kathmandu she meets Chandra, a charismatic young trekking guide. They embark on a relationship where Kate becomes transformed by her adventurous affair, but is nevertheless realistic about the short-term nature of the liaison.
Once Kate is back in England, Chandra pursues her with ideas for making a life together. Gripped by the thought that someone like Chandra could find her desirable, Kate becomes preoccupied by his vision of their future as a couple. She makes several trips back to Nepal, where Kate finds it increasingly difficult to understand her place in his world and yet she continues to invest hope in the relationship.

I’d love to explore a city in Nepal to understand more about the culture and try the food. Love mountain climbing but I fear the big one would be too much for me!
Not to climb a mountain, but a small hill only if the view were worth it.
I would rather explore, sit and paint the people and the buildings in katmandu..
Yes I definitely see myself climbing Mount Everest
Id rather be painting the sites of katmandu. Got a bad hip!!
I have no interest in climbing Everest, but would love to stay at the Yak and Yeti hotel in Kathmandu as the name has always appealed to me.

I can totally understand that!! I imagine the culture and everything else about Nepal must be amazing! Good luck winning a copy!
I love reading about the Nepal region and would love to travel there through the book. Unfortunately asthma prevents me from climbing such altitudes.
About 15 years ago we had a wonderful touring holiday in India and Nepal was supposed to be one of the destinations. Unfortunately due to the political climate at the time, it was deleted from the itinerary and we went to Lucknow instead. Always wished we had been able to visit. Fingers crossed to win this!

That’s such a shame your trip to Nepal was cancelled – I went to Lucknow a few years ago and I imagine it’s very different to Nepal 🙂 I really hope you get there one day (and if not, then through this book!) Good luck!
I love reading about Nepal climbing Everest is not for me but I would love to learn about their history and culture first hand
1 Comment
Agree Rosie! The history and culture must be so fascinating to understand. God luck winning a copy!
Something else. No climbing for me!

I think you’d be spoilt for choice! Hopefully you get there one day!
Don’t think I am fit enough to climb Mount Everest, but a trip to see the Himalayas and to visit Kathmandu would be awesome, I just love mountains!
Definitely! And I think the Himalayas must be completely different to anywhere else! Good luck winning a copy 🙂
I would love to try to climb Everest – maybe to base camp rather than the very top. Really I’d love to visit Nepal for the culture, food and the people!

Sounds amazing! Hope you manage to get there one day!
Sadly I am not fit enough to climb Mt Everest but I would love to do some other hikes. Also, there is a little clinic in the mountains I would love to volunteer at for a while to get to know the locals better and get a better insight into life in Nepal.

That sounds incredible, hope you get to go there one day. Nepal is very high up my list of places I want to visit. Good luck getting a copy!
Hello, I don’t think I would be up to climbing Mt Everest so instead I would visit the National Botanical Gardens Kathmandu as I bet they are beautiful.

They have to be incredible! And so different. Good luck getting a copy of the book!
I think I would prefer discovering the rest of Nepal, it’s sights, culture, food, meeting locals. Not to mention Walking up the stairs is enough mountain climbing for me lol!

Sounds more like a holiday than climbing the highest mountain! Don’t forget you need to become a TripFiction member (follow the link above!) to have a chance of winning a copy! Good Luck!
I would love to learn about the history and enjoy the beautiful scenery in Nepal. I do enjoy the outdoors very much.

I agree Sara. The history and scenery (and food and wildlife and and and…!) must be amazing. Good luck winning a copy!
I would never in a million years be able to climb Mount Everest (not even before my broken ankle!) so if I found myself back in Nepal, I would sit in Durbar Square, watching the world go by!
Then I would go off & do a stint teaching little children some English!

That sounds amazing Claire! So lucky you’ve been before. I can imagine the people-watching would be incredible. Good luck winning one!
I used to be a climber when I was a lot younger and my son is now a climbing instructor. However neither of us has climbed any higher than Mount Snowdon! I would not want to attempt Mount Everest but would certainly love to visit Nepal!

Wow Sarah! That sounds so interesting! I guess Everest is a different level though. Good luck getting the book!
White water rafting is big in Nepal and having tried it once before in Switzerland I would love to have another go!
Absolutely! I went rafting in northern Indian (so more the foothills of the himalayas) and it was incredible! The views and the colour of the water were unbelievable. Don’t forget you need to become a TripFiction member to have a chance of winning a book (follow the link above!) Good luck!
Not sure my knees could cope with climbing Mount Everest so I think I would just like to travel around Nepal, seeing the beautiful scenery and wildlife.

The wildlife in Nepal has to be incredible – the scenery too! Good luck winning one!
I would love to climb Mount Everest but there is no way I can as I have cardiomyopathy and wouldn’t be allowed! But Nepal has always been on my bucket list for a visit……it looks the most amazing country and the Nepalese people seem so calm and friendly. I would love to read this book.

Good Luck getting a copy Elaine! I think Nepal is top of my list to visit, mainly for the views and the food!
I’d rather be doing something else in Nepal as long as it wasn’t as active, like climbing a mountain.
Maybe not to the very top 🙂 The views would be incredible though!
Would rather be doing something else in Nepal, yoga? Meditation?
🙂 My idea of a holiday is definitely something a little less strenuous!
I would love to climb Mount Everest, but don’t think I physically could, so I would love to see all the beautiful scenery in Nepal, meet the people, see the monks and experience some peace and tranquillity and soak up the magical mysticism of the Himalayas.
That sounds amazing! The mysticism of the Himalayas is definitely something I’d like to see. I recently read The Himalayan Summer by Louise Brown and the coral mountains sounded incredible!
I’d love to try climbing Mount Everest one day!

Hope you get there Linda! And good luck winning one these books!
I don’t see myself climbing Everest but I would be interested in the spiritual side of Nepal and the cooking.
I agree! I’d love to go and do a cooking course, it would be so interesting. I’d also like to do some yoga courses, although sure they would be very difficult!
No, I’m not fit enough to climb Mount Everest but I’m sure there are plenty of other things to do, see, eat in Nepal which would be of interest to me!
Definitely! So many sights, sounds and smells to experience in Nepal. And taste too! Good luck winning one of the books 🙂
Would love to explore Nepal but can’t see me doing anything too energetic. I live my life vicariously these days.

Vicariously through books 🙂 I can imagine that there are lots of lovely things to do in Nepal without climbing the mountains!
Definitely couldn’t climb Everest but I woild like to visit Nepal for its culture as the people seem so friendly

I couldn’t handle the climbing or the altitude of Everest – if I ever got the opportunity to visit Nepal I would spend my time visiting some of our old, now retired, friends from the days when my husband served in the Brigade of Gurkhas. I never got to visit Nepal during his army days and I’ve heard so much about it from my Nepalese friends.
That sounds amazing! Hope you manage to get there to visit your friends and enjoy the amazing country. It’s number one on my list to go to 🙂
I certainly give a climb up Mount Everest a go, I enjoyed climbing Ben Nevis.
I’d love to try too! I bet it is incredibly hard though but sure the views from the top must be incredible.
I would love to have the energy to climb Mt Everest but I fear I would be far too unfit! I need to get more active. I would love to see the elephants at Bardiya National Park and the temple at Kathmandu.

The nature there must be amazing, and completely different – especially the elephants. I think it must be really difficult to climb to everest – even ‘just’ to base camp. But the views must be amazing!!
I’d love to experience Vipassana Meditation, nothing more strenuous that that thanks.
I can imagine that would be amazing – especially with the mountain views!
I’d rather be relaxing and sampling the fabulous cuisine x

Nepalese food is amazing! Especially the momos. Good luck 🙂
