“New York City crime at its best”: 5 copy GIVEAWAY
18th February 2018
Conviction by Julia Dahl – New York City crime at its best.
Journalist Rebekah Roberts works at New York City’s sleaziest tabloid, but dreams of bigger things. When she receives a letter from a convicted murderer claiming his innocence, she sees both a story she can’t ignore and, possibly, a chance.
Twenty-two years earlier, just after the Crown Heights riots exploded between the black and Jewish neighbourhoods in Brooklyn, DeShawn Perkins was convicted of the brutal murder of his adoptive family. Rebekah’s search for the truth is obscured by the decades that have elapsed: almost no one wants to talk about that grim, violent time in New York City, not even Saul Katz, a former NYPD cop and once her inside source.
A searing exploration of the tensions between New York’s closed communities, Conviction is a novel about the power – and cost – of loyalty and denial.

What can I say about NYC that hasn’t been said already? Film and TV set on every corner, beautiful buildings, buzzing theatre, culture. The place has everything within walking distance or wherever you stay.
Excitement, noise, drama – fun!
NYC to me is a reminder of our honeymoon in the year 2000 and the sadness that followed with 9/11. I’d love to go back and see how it’s changed and take in some of the places we visited and loved – Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, Chinatown, Central Park, Time Square, … always so much going on, whatever time of day or night !
Central Park, The Library Hotel, Broadway, Brooklyn and Times Square (just some of the things we visited on a frenetic visit!)
Colour, noise, yellow cabs and the subway, advertising, shopping and excitement all remind me of New York.
Art, parks,hustle & bustle,shopping and food 🙂
New york is a vibrant city I would love to experience!

I imagine walking around New York must feel like walking through a million movie sets. I’ve never been but it seems very familiar!
To me it means happy memories of visits to my daughter when she lived there, especially when we visited for her wedding!
New York to me means hectic excitement, wonderful sights, noise….and a little bit of nervousness.
I’ve never been but it’s a vibrant 24-hour hub!
It means celebrating – went there for my husband’s 70th birthday.
Wonderful food, museums and atmisphere
The Big Apple means buzzing excitement & real edginess to me! Would love to read some crime fiction about NYC, when I was there in 1978 a murder had just been committed at the ‘Y’ where I was staying! Plus I live in a Jewish community in London which really fascinates me, so this book would go down a treat!
New York makes you feel alive, buzzing with life 24 hours. It’s like being on a movie set 🙂
Loved the buzz of New York the one time I went, but can’t return until Trump’s out of the White House!
