Year end GIVEAWAY!
19th December 2021
Giveaway. We are delighted to round off 2021 with the chance of winning 3 book bundles, each containing a copy of:
The Miner’s Lass and Murder at the Seaview Hotel, both by Glenda Young and both set in Northern England (Sunderland and Scarborough respectively)

The Miner’s Lass
‘You’re a Dinsdale lass, Ruby. Nothing and no one keeps us lot down.’
A life of poverty in a cramped pit cottage is all that seventeen-year-old Ruby Dinsdale has known. Even with her father and younger brother working at the coal mine, money is tight. Her mother Mary is skilled at stretching what little they have, but the small contribution Ruby makes from her job at the local pub makes all the difference. So when Ruby is sacked, and Mary becomes pregnant again, the family’s challenges are greater than ever.
When charming miner Gordon begins to court Ruby it seems as though happiness is on the horizon, until she uncovers a deeper betrayal than she could ever have imagined.
But although the Dinsdales are materially poor, they are rich in love, friendship and determination – all qualities that they will draw on to get them through whatever lies ahead.
Murder at the Seaview Hotel
In the charming Yorkshire seaside town of Scarborough, a murder is nothing to sing about . . .
After the death of her husband Tom, Helen Dexter is contemplating her future as the now-sole proprietor of the Seaview Hotel.
There’s an offer from a hotel chain developer to consider, but also a booking from a group of twelve Elvis impersonators, a singing troupe called Twelvis. Tom loved Elvis and for Helen this is a sign that she should stay.
But the series of mysterious events which follow, suggests that the developer is not going to give up easily. Then, shortly after Twelvis arrive, one of the group disappears. His body is found floating in a lake, with his blue suede shoes missing. Could the two be connected?
With the reputation of the Seaview on the line, Helen isn’t going to wait for the murderer to strike again. With her trusty greyhound Suki by her side, she decides to find out more about her guests and who wanted to make sure this Elvis never sang again.

Merry Christmas, my wish for 2022 is to see an end to Covid-19
I wish health and happiness for all and this dreadful virus to be defeated.
I wish that all countries across the World will have the resources and ability to manage the Covid problem and for all people to have the freedom to travel across the globe once more ( with a GOOD BOOK in their suitcase )
My wish for 2022 is for my house move to go smoothly
Now 74 I hope to wake up in 2022 fit and healthy to enjoy all that each day offers. My top priority though will be to try to make up for some of the time I have missed with my grandchildren. I feel as though I have been cheated out of the last two years of their lives.
to spend as much as possible time with my family
I just wish I get my operation done and I can get on with my life. I want to feel comfortable again.
To be happier and hope everyone else feels the same!
Like most people I’m hoping for a more normal year and that everyone can stay safe and healthy. Anything more is a bonus
My wish is for a happy and healthy 2022 for everyone.

Lots more reading to be done in a happier and healthier World.
My wishes for 2022 would be for everyone to be healthy, happy and having the time to read more wonderful books!
Less stress and more reading time!
That Covid would disappear! If it doesn’t disappear, then hopefully my family will all continue to stay safe – mind you we are only going out briefly once a week to shop. I’d love to return to the theatre and to meet up with friends for lunch – can’t remember the last time I was able to do this.
The main one is for people not to be so anti-anything. We need to move forward as communities and as a society, yet it’s hard to feel that when so many feel their individual freedom matters more. It’s a world-wide pandemic which I think many just close their eyes to.
Otherwise I’d just like to keep reading through all the books I bought in the first lockdown to support indie bookshops!
My son to get vaccinated
To stay safe and be able to live again.
A safe end to restrictions hopefully in the not too distant future.
For time to just slow down!! Failing that (more) books would be nice!
Like most people more normality. Hopefully we’ll get to take some short breaks with our dogs to the coast- they love the beach.
I love Scarborough and have had quite a few holidays there. I do like the sound of both books. What I want for 2022 is obviously an end to this horrible Covid. Hopefully everyone will get fully vaccinated and no more variants will emerge.
