Rosalind Peters can’t believe her luck when in 1960, just in her twenties, she lands a job as an air-hostess, that is what cabin crew was called in those days. Life was every bit as glamourous as she imagined it would be with her first night-stop in Athens, onto Rhodes for another few days and then to Crete, (with a grass runway, and the townsfolk turning out to clap when the plane landed). Trying to keep as grounded as her Captain, she fights against her feelings but circumstances thwart her good intentions. With locations in Jerusalem, (in those days it had a quarter in Jordan), on the Dead Sea, Egypt, and many other exciting locations, things come to a head in Tangier. Back to her roots in Yorkshire Rosalind finds that family life is not as easy as she dreamt it would be, and the characters are made to confront events such as childbirth out of wedlock, adoption and perhaps a realisation that past mistakes can be repeated. A book of its time giving a true historical perspective on the swinging sixties.
