easyJet – Get between the covers, hotels are going gaga for books
5th March 2018
If you have no flights planned with easyJet this month, then we felt we just had to bring you this gem of an article featured in Traveller, the easyJet Inflight Magazine, March 2018!
HOTELS ARE GOING GAGA FOR BOOKS IN 2018, says Sarah Neish
We all know that finding time to read during the daily grind is as likely as stumbling across a unicorn’s nail salon. We’re far too busy extracting our head from a fellow commuter’s armpit on the metro, which is why we’re glad the hospitality industry is stepping in to bring us books.
Le Pavillon des Lettres hotel in Paris has launched a literary room service, allowing guests to order from an ‘extensive novel menu’, with books delivered to your door. Choose from editions about the fashion world or classics by the likes of Charles Baudelaire and Virginia Woolf. “Escaping digital distractions and enjoying an evening of solace has never more tempting,” says hotel manage Benoît Saudemont.
Austrian ski chalet Kristiana Lech, in the pretty Arlberg region, has introduced a reading butler. This bibliophilic Jeeves will create a bespoke reading list to reflect your tastes. Curl up by the hotel’s fireplace and devour a gripping tale (as well as some raclette) to the tinkling of live piano music.
“A memorable book offers an escape from the daily routing much like travel does,” says chalet owner Gertrud Schneider. What next? Audio books in headboards? Bound to be a bestseller.
