Psychological thriller set in Berlin
GIVEAWAY: 3 copies of Trio by William Boyd, set in Brighton
28th November 2021
We are delighted to offer 3 copies of Trio by William Boyd, set in BRIGHTON.
You now have a chance to read this wonderful, iconic novel that evokes the Swinging Sixties in Brighton!
A producer. A novelist. An actress.
It is summer in 1968, the year of the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy. There are riots in Paris and the Vietnam War is out of control. While the world is reeling our three characters are involved in making a Swingin’ Sixties movie in sunny Brighton.
All are leading secret lives. Elfrida is drowning her writer’s block in vodka; Talbot, coping with the daily dysfunction of making a film, is hiding something in a secret apartment; and the glamorous Anny is wondering why the CIA is suddenly so interested in her.
But the show must go on and, as it does, the trio’s private worlds begin to take over their public ones. Pressures build inexorably – someone’s going to crack. Or maybe they all will.
From one of Britain’s best loved writers comes an exhilarating, tender novel that asks the vital questions: what makes life worth living? And what do you do if you find it isn’t?

I love Whitby 🙂
Bournemouth and Boscombe are lovely.
Plymouth, Devon
Durdle door in Dorset
Benodet in southern Brittany. Can’t recommend it highly enough. We have spent many happy summers there in our caravan. Beautiful bay, sandy beach, clear sea, a river estuary and marina plus a saltmarsh all within easy walking distance. Our bit of paradise on earth, sadly just a bit too far for us now we are 74.
My favorites in the UK are Bude in Cornwall, Croyde in Devon, Rhossili Bay in the Gower and Maria Luisa on the Algarve in Portugal, they are the ones that spring to mind.
I love Whitby. It has special family memories for me but in general it’s just beautiful.
I love Scarborough in the UK and abroad one of my favourite towns is Fuengirola
i enjoy visiting skegness
brighton is lovely
I now live in Brighton so am living the high-life already but have to confess to loving both St Ives and Padstow in Cornwall, Scarborough, Whitby and Robin-Hoods-Bay in Yorkshire and Blakeney in Norfolk – to name but a few.
cleethorpes is my fav as its where i live and walk my dog
Rye, it’s full of history, very picturesque and interesting.
I do love Whitby – the history, atmosphere and Dracula.
In the UK I’m a big fan of Tenby, especially in autumn and spring. Abroad my favourite is Carmel in California
I would have to recommend my home town of Llandudno
Love Whitby x
I love Brighton, southend or clacton for an easy day out from London
Beadnell Bay Beach Northumberland
I’d recommend Port Douglas in North Queensland, Australia!
Southwold
Whitby

Being a Yorkshire Girl, It has to be Whitby
My home town of Blackpool is a fabulously fun festival of a place.
Bexhill on Sea in East Sussex is like stepping back in time.
Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk
Newcastle Co Down N Ireland
Tynemouth Tyne & Wear
Burnham-on-sea, UK
I live in the Midlands, so nowhere near the sea, sadly but a place that I absolutely love, for its fabulous beaches and quaint seaside towns, is North Norfolk, so I’d recommend Wells-Next-The-Sea.
Hi! This looks a great giveaway.
I would love to take part in one of your Giveaways by offering some copies of my novel, Rebecca’s Choice, set in wonderful Wales!
Please could you get back to me,
best wishes, Heidi
I have to choose Bamburgh on the Northumberland coast, for its wide deserted beaches of clean golden sand, the delightful village with the Grace Darling museum and the majestic castle overlooking it all.
I have the good luck to live on the Gower peninsula in South West Wales and in good weather there is nowhere to beat Mumbles. But for the weather, the blue Mediterranean and the restaurants I adored Bandol in the south of France – the part of the riviera where the locals go!
Fuengirola on the Costa del sol is one of my favourite seaside places
Hello, there are some beautiful beaches and towns up in Orkney, they are so wild and lovely!
I live in Cornwall and could name every cove and town. But as everyone is coming here on their holidays, I’m nominating Teignmouth, one of my favourite coastal towns.
Llandudno in North Wales. No visit is complete without a trip up the Great Orme!
It has to be Swanpool Beach near Falmouth, lovely cove for the children to paddle and can hire kayaks to enjoy, we loved relaxing there.
Because it is so compact and every time we visit we are able to take in all the little coastal resorts, I would have to nominate the whole of Cornwall.
If you really just want a single named place, then I love the space and scenic variety of Tenby in Wales!
As I was born very near to Brighton (Shoreham) It would be my first choice, but having moved up north I really like Whitby.
Port Erin on the Isle of Man is lovely in summer. Not a huge touristy place but the views are incredible and there is lots of space to roam
most definitely Rio de Janeiro – surf, sea, sun and samba!!!!
Hastings. Happy memories of it from school trip in 80’s.
Hugh Town in St Mary’s in the Scilly Isles. In fact as I type this my OH is hanging a painting of it on the wall
Got to be the North East and Northumbrian coast including my home city of Sunderland. Such beauty and gorgeous beaches!
Saly Portudal in Senegal was beautiful – so relaxing -would love to return one day.
It has to be Filey although please don’t all come at once !
It’s quaint traditional and totally unspoilt. Love it.
Hastings! Lest touristy than Brighton but just as enjoyable.
For relaxing I love Porthleven in Cornwall x
Brighton I like for the Lanes and the vibe but I do find the pebbly beach disappointing when I am after a proper seaside experience.
I’d recommend Joss Bay, Broadstairs on the Kent coast for a proper seaside experience with a sandy beach and holiday spirit atmosphere. Can easily do a day trip from London too.
i love blackpool – bright and energetic and lots of fun

Almost anywhere on the Isle of Wight but especially the “Bay towns” of Sandown and Shanklin where the wide crescent of sands between the two towns makes swimming safe and sun-bathing a pleasure.
