GIVEAWAY: 3 copies of Whisper of the Lotus – CAMBODIA

23rd May 2021

We are delighted to be able to offer 3 copies of Whisper of the Lotus by Gabrielle Yetter, novel set in CAMBODIA.

UK ONLY

3 copies of Whisper of the Lotus

Charlotte Fontaine’s dead-end life lacked excitement so she impulsively booked a flight to Cambodia to visit her best friend. She never imagined that sitting on a plane, struggling with her fear of flying, might lead a chance encounter with Rashid, an old man whose tragic secret would take her on a mystery tour of discovery.

In a land of golden temples, orange-clad monks, and smiling people, Charlotte discovers nothing is as she’d expected. She also never imagined the journey would take her back to the night when her father walked out on the family.

And who was Rashid? Was he just a kindly old man, or was there something deeper sewn into the exquisite fabric of his life?

The Return by Victoria Hislop set in Spain / UK.
Almost finished and appalled by the brutality of the Spanish Civil War, an era I knew little about. A totally absorbing read, even if it has been horrific at times.

I have just finished reading Miss Benson’s Beetle, by Rachel Joyce. It was brilliant!
Set between the UK, Australia & New Caledonia, it is the story of a spinster schoolteacher who, following a kind of midlife crisis, ups sticks & takes off for New Caledonia, in search of a rare beetle her tragically deceased father taught her about.
It is in turn comedic, tragic, moving & always full of adventure!
    I thoroughly recommend it!

I used to read books without really taking too much notice of where they were set, but these days I am much more of an ‘armchair travelling’ connoisseur!

I have literally only just begun reading ‘The Lily Garden’ by Barbara Josselsohn – so far it is set in Chicago and the Adirondack Mountains of New York!

It is shaping up to be a great read 🙂
