I like to have a long walk in nature, then get a nice cup of tea, settle on the sofa, with mobile at my side in case someone communicates. Then open my book and read a nice amount until my brain is satisfied.

Love books that are self care books such as good vibes good life, or my year of yes by Shonda Rhimes, then I life to read books on where I’m from whether that’s Manchester books on how the movement of the hacienda happened to books about my Irish heritage.

A book + a brew + a biscuit = BLISS! My favourite way to relax and escape the reality of real life but it puzzles me that I opt for more gritty crime fiction and psychological thrillers than other genres although I do sometimes choose something lighter if needed!

The wind is howling outside right now and there’s nothing I”d like better after walking the dog than snuggling up with a soft blanket, a good book, and a cup of hot chocolate so thick you need a spoon. It’s a cliche for a reason, damnit.

My favorite way and place to relax is on the beach at St Simons Island, GA – failing that, curled up on the couch with my current read is a very nice substitute.

I love to relax in a bubble bath and read. Would be there up to an hour a day if I could, but usually limit it to 20 minutes as nothing else would get done in the house
Waking early, while everyone is still asleep; selecting the book I want to read or anticipating going back to one I’ve already started… But first grinding coffee beans and making a perfect cup of coffee.
Then settling in my favourite chair by the window, with my cup and book for an uninterrupted read.

I like to relax by reading, but, if I can’t concentrate or if the weather is too wonderful to ignore (which is becoming more of a rarity), I like to go outside and observe what Nature is up to (what’s blooming, which birds are flitting about, spotting clouds, etc.).

We follow the Jenny Joseph poem “Warning” When I am old, I will wear purple with a red hat. We go out and have fun and are growing old disgracefully. Our Chapter have a monthly lunch, dinner, visit the theatre and places like National Trust houses.
A couple of years ago, over sixty Brittish Red Hatters from groups all around the country met up in Hebden Bridge for Yorkshire Day and the streets were flooded by ladies dressed in purple sporting their best red hats.
