SYNOPSIS: Jan is persuaded by husband and son, William, to move to rural smallholding on the Welsh borders, strong Chapel country. It’s a far cry from her urban life.
DISSENT is a powerful story of Jan’s struggle for acceptance: her husband dies, her son falls for Eleanor, the daughter of local Chapel elder, her son dies not knowing that Eleanor is expecting their child – disaster upon disaster. The chapel elder is a paedophile where his daughter is concerned – or is he? Is his behaviour the norm in their society ? Can Jan adapt to this new community or will she follow her heart and her own dreams? Would you make the same decisions? Resolution comes in the end as Jan discovers the truth about Eleanor and makes her peace with herself as well.
